Island of the Sea Wolves’ gives a rare glimpse into the lives of some of the most iconic wildlife on Vancouver Island. A collaboration between Wild Space and River Road Films in Canada, the 3 x 60 episodes interweave the stories of the animals that call this special place home. This natural history soap opera that charts the highs and lows of some very engaging characters from Spring through to the end of Fall.
Vancouver Island is the largest island on the west coast of North America. The vast area, variety of landscapes and extreme weather brought additional challenges for the team. It was an incredibly hot Summer and for the first time in recorded history a heat dome covered the island. During the Fall, we were faced with flooding and record amounts of rainfall. This extreme weather gave us an opportunity to witness how the Island’s wildlife deals with the incredible challenges that nature throws at them. It also gave us a glimpse of how animals are beginning to negotiate climate change.
